IT is an ever-evolving academic field in the Øresund Region, which is an important factor in keeping the long-term competitiveness of the local expertise. The region has approximately 500 fulltime IT researchers working in several universities and research centres.
Measured by scientific output, the Øresund Region was the leading region in Scandinavia in the last three years. This applies to all academic fields, including IT and telecom, which produced 275 scientific publications in 2003, as shown in the following table.
