The University of Lund, with its seven faculties and a number of research centres and specialized institutes, is the largest unit for research and higher education in Sweden. At present, 34,000 students are enrolled at Lund University and altogether some 6,000 people are employed. The main part of the University is situated in Lund but a number of departments for both research and education are located in Malmö and Helsingborg.
The University activities cover both traditional academic disciplines as well as the performing arts. Lund University cooperates with a great number of universities and research institutes all over the world and takes part in educational and research programmes carried out by the European Union. Extensive exchanges of teachers and researchers with universities in industrialized as well as developing countries make the university truly international.
