Malmö University
Malmö University The University was founded in 1998 as one of Sweden's newest initiatives in higher education. It combines both tradition and novelty as some faculties already existed as a part of Lund University and some are quite new academic units. It has presently around 1,000 staff members, including 524 lecturers and 20,000 students, of which 10,300 are fulltime. The institution is in frantic expansion - it is expected that it will have 14,000 fulltime students in 2005.
Malmö University has a broadly targeted educational program and diversified research activities. During the academic year 2002/2003, the University offered more than 270 programs and courses on both undergraduate and graduate levels. Close collaboration with regional trade and industry, as well as public institutions, are now expanding to international links and co-operation with other institutions worldwide.
The fields of education offered by the institution are: technology and society, arts and communication, dentistry, health and society, international migration and ethnic relations and teacher education.
