IDEON
Ideon, located in Lund, is one of the largest Science Parks in Europe and offers to R&D companies in IT, biotechnology and other high-tech areas opportunities to develop and grow to meet the demands of the open market. The research works closely with the Lund Institute of Technology, the engineering faculty of Lund University.
Ideon, Scandinavia's first research park, was founded in 1983 with the aim of creating successful companies from the wealth of knowledge and ideas at Lund University. Through the years, a number of innovative companies have been developed at Ideon, such as Ericsson Mobile Communications, Axis, Opsis, AU-System and BioInvent. During the first 15 years of its existence, almost 400 companies have been or are located at Ideon. No less than 76% of these companies has connections with Lund University. Today, there are 165 Ideon companies which, together employ 1,550 people.
More than a third of the companies at Ideon today are active in IT, and another third in biotechnology. Ideon also has a number of service companies that facilitate the daily running of the Ideon companies.
