Intel opens new research centre in Copenhagen The centre will carry out research into fast silicon and cobber-based circuits for the Intel’s processors and chips.
(Micro & Nano)
The research centre is to be headed by Dr. Ulrich Kiel who has
researched in the disciplines femtosecond-physics and circuits
design for fourteen years. The new centre will be part of Intel’s
Microprocessor Technology Lab and cooperate with the Optical
Networking Component Division (OND).
“The establishment of a research centre is the next logical step
for Intel's presence in Copenhagen. The new team will build on
existing research projects in Intel and benefit from the Danish
research environment's leading position in design of high speed
circuits,” says Stephen S. Pawlowski, head of Intel's
Microprocessor Technology Lab.
Intel, the world's largest chip manufacturer, has had R&D
activities in Denmark since 1997 and is already present in the
Danish capital through Intel Copenhagen, former Giga, which is part
of Intel’s optical division.
