For selected smartphones currently shipping, consumers will be
able to download Decuma's software already this year. Current
solutions for mobile phones based on Symbian UIQ and other
operating systems are in the pipeline.
Decuma's handwriting recognition technology currently covers
western languages as well as Chinese and Japanese, a width not
offered by anyone else in the market. Decuma's most important
differentiator, however, remains the user interface, praised for
giving users an experience very close to that of using a pen
on paper.
"With the increased focus on using mobile phones for email
communication, we see a growing interest in making text input
easier for the user", says Charlotta Falvin, CEO of Decuma.
"Customers have been requesting our solution for smartphones, and
we are pleased to be able to meet these requests".
Lund-based Decuma offers its technology for integration in mobile
phones with pen input capabilities, targeting manufacturers and
platform developers directly, but also through industry partners.
The company has developed its handwriting recognition software
based upon its patented Geometrical Invariant Technology (GIT)
and offers its product to end-users as well as manufacturers
of handheld devices.
