Competition Authority clears TDC's acquisition of Song
The Danish telecom TDC has received clearance from the Swedish Competition Authority to complete the acquisition of the Swedish Song Networks Holding.
(Business)

The clearance fulfils the only outstanding condition for TDC's offer to buy Song, informs TDC. TDC has now 97% of Songs shares, after a battle against Tele2 for the control of the company.

Song Networks is a Swedish-based provider of primarily IP-based voice and data services with its own network in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finland. Song Networks has 14,300 business customers in the Nordic region, 850 employees, and achieved revenues of DKK 1.9bn in 2003.

TDC, which currently has no operations in Finland or Norway and a minor presence in Sweden, plans to use Song to expand in the fast-growing area of business communications while countering incursions on its own territory by Nordic telecom giant TeliaSonera.
