The DVI software is employed for registering of the victims’ characteristics, which can later be matched against information about the missing people. Distinctive features such as set of teeth, appearance and scars are catalogued and controlled with the software’s help. The programme can also be used to assist identification through DNA analysis.
Holdæk-based Plass Data, whichhad already sold the programme to law enforcement authorities of several European countries, has now made it available free-of-charge for the identification of victims in the area affected by the tsunami on 26 of December.
