Hollywood uses DtecNet software against Internet piracy A free download program developed by Copenhagen-based DtecNet is the latest weapon in the Motion Picture Association of America's battle against illegal file sharing.
(Software)
The software, called Parent File Scan, scans a PC and searches out P2P (peer to peer) file sharing applications. In this way, worried parents can check if there are illegally copied files in the family’s computer. The software also roots out music and video files.
Parent File Scan does not distinguish between legal and illegal copies, but gives the user a comprehensive list of the files it turned up, along with the option of removing the software and media files.
