Øresund strengthens its centre for nano technology
A new project will profile the Øresund region’s centre for nano technology. The project will combine the needs of the industry with the current research in the area. As a first step, interviews have been made with thirty business leaders from mature companies that could benefit from the application of nano technology.

- The majority of the companies are positive to nano technology and consider it to be a decisive factor for the industries’ ability to compete in the future, said Mattias Dinnetz, one of the founders of the project, to NyTeknik.

The report identifies a few regional sectors that are especially interesting. Medicine, bio technology and bio compatible materials (packaging) are a few of them.

The report also gives some advice on how the region can prosper even more in developing nano technology. A closer co-operation between researchers and companies is one of the main advice given. The report suggest that Øresund should start an Industrial postdoc project, an initiative that gives companies access to scientists in the appropriate field or gives them the opportunity to work on a project closely related to the company.

- I have worked that way myself and it worked very well, said Mattias Dinnetz.
