Aptilo makes New Zealand wireless
Swedish telecom company Aptilo recently received a large order from TNZ, the largest telephone operator in New Zealand. Aptilo will help TNZ to administrate, surveil and charge for their wireless hotspots.

Aptilo, a company sprung out of the Øresund-based company Axis Communications, will implement a payment system for all of TNZ´s 220 hotspots. Within a year there will be over 400 hotspots nation-wide and Aptilos task is to enable a variety of ways to pay for the connection.

- The wireless broadband network based on WiFi and WiMax is steadily growing, and within a few years these will be integrated with today’s 3G networks. Aptilo’s solution handles today’s needs in administrating WiFi and WiMax networks, and is also capable of handling the forthcoming convergence, says Jan Sjönell, responsible for the Asian market at Aptilo Networks.

The TNZ project is the latest of Aptilos many successes. In August NASA chose Aptilo for the wireless internet connection at their centre in Maryland, USA.
