Each library gets a quota of sheet music that they set themselves. The visitors can then download sheet music up to this certain quota - and keep it for life.
- The whole idea behind Sheetmusicnow was to make sheet music available so it's fantastic that we managed to get this deal through, says Jonathan Irons, manager of the Copenhagen-based Sheetmusicnow to Computerworld.
The catalogue, that consists of over 15 000 compositions, will now be available at 40 different Danish libraries.
The project started three years ago at a few selected libraries. Difficulties occurred as the users had to ask a librarian every time they wanted to access the music. The new version with downloads will simplify the process considerably.
Jonathan Irons estimates that a thousand sets of sheet music will be downloaded a month in the beginning.
- This is a lot simpler for the borrower, and the librarians will have less to do also, says Jonathan Irons.
