Funding for leading edge IT and nano research in Øresund
The Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research has approved major grants for establishing strategic research centers within data communication and nanotechnology at Lund University
(Wireless)

4.3 M EUR has been granted to establish leading research center within IT. The researchers plan to develop solutions for high speed transmission of digital information, up to several Gbit/second.. The market for these can be found among manufacturers of consumer goods electronics and the wireless industry.

“It will be an interdisciplinary center where researchers from departments of information technology, electro science and physics will work together,” says John B Anderson, Professor of Digital Communications at Lund University, who will lead the new center.

Nanotechnology has received 3.6 M EUR for their world leading research in nanowires that can be used in advanced electronic components and biomedical applications.

”Our successes have been an eye opener for the large electronics corporations, they now invest heavily in nanowire technologies,” says Lars Samuelson, Professor, Head of the Nanometer Structure Consortium.
