“As the Arabic technology market has grown, we have extended our research and development of our award winning product Decuma to enable a greater number of people to communicate more effectively,” comments Milos Djokovic, President and CEO at Zi Corporation. “The market has great potential as Arabic is the world’s 5th largest language”, he concludes.

The software supports naturally shaped Arabic letters, punctuation and Arabic-Indic digits recognizing the natural variations commonly found in Arabic writing styles, for all markets. Decuma Arabic was specifically designed to enable OEMs to rapidly implement a full feature set, including prediction. Demonstration software is available for the Sony Ericsson P-Series (800/900/910) devices.

The Decuma solution enables people to write as they normally would using pen and paper. This is an important breakthrough in normalizing handwriting as a user interface.

Decuma was founded in 1999 based on research from Lund University in Sweden. As of 2005 Decuma is a part of Zi Corporation, a technology company that delivers intelligent interface solutions to enhance the user experience of wireless and consumer technologies.
