According to Computerworld, the Norwegian state has recently entered into a major agreement with Siemens, which is to deliver a new digital radio system for the Norwegian civil defence forces worth NKR 3.6 billion.

The system is based on Tetra and whereas Siemens is to be in charge of the implementation, system integration and the operation, Motorola’s Danish Tetra branch in Glostrup is to be responsible for the actual network infrastructure.

”We will supply all the technology as we have entered into a partnership with Siemens on the Norwegian case,” says a pleased Bo Wassberg, general manager at Motorola Denmark.

The development centre in Glostrup plays a key role for Motorola, which together with EADS is the world’s largest Tetra supplier. The approximately 200 employees at the development centre are consequently shaping the course for the communication of the future within the global defence forces for which Tetra is the preferred technology.
