"The fourth quarter saw Sony Ericsson finish a strong year with record volumes, sales and net income due to the soaring popularity of our imaging and music phones. Our target is to become one of the top three players in the industry, and the momentum we established in 2006 makes this an achievable ambition," says Miles Flint, President of Sony Ericsson, in a press release.

The engineers in Lund are behind several of Sony Ericsson´s hit model handsets such as the K800i Cyber-shot phone and Walkman phone models W801i and W850i, writes Sydsvenskan.

The company has expanded with 1000 new jobs in Lund during the last two years and has outgrown the present office building. The construction of a new office building is soon to begin.
