Closer to an explanation of genetic diseases A new software program developed in Denmark can give scientists capabilities to speed up the development of medicine for genetic diseases.
(R&D)
Researchers from the Technological University of Denmark (DTU) and the University of Copenhagen have developed the new program that can create a map of genes and their intricate interactions causing genetic diseases, writes Berlingske Tidende.
The research results have been published in the scientific journal Nature Biotechnology. Project manager Søren Brunak, at the Center for Biologisk Sekvensanalyse at DTU, says that time for developing medicine for genetic diseases can be shortened.
According PhD Kasper Lage; “The discovery shows the rules that govern the actions of genes when causing genetic diseases. The exciting part is that the rules are the same despite the nature of the disease”.
