In light of this, Vinnova has financed five so called Living Labs, with SEK 1.6 million each, to improve ICT companies’ ability to develop services that focus on benefits for users, writes Sydsvenskan.
Together with contributions from Lunds University, Malmö University, Øresund University, the cities of Malmö and Lund, as well as Region Skåne, the total budget for Living Labs Øresund is about SEK 4 million.
Living Labs Øresund will focus on mobile services to solve public-private challenges based on users’ needs.
“We also have contributions form the industry, headed up by Sony Ericsson, Telia, Avensia, Ideon and Cybercom. The venture is immensely gratifying and will strengthen the ICT-cluster in the Øresund Region. We are also linking to other European hotspots for mobile services together with our partner Living Labs Europe”, says Peter Höjerback, CEO at Øresund IT Academy.
Vinnova is a state authority that aims to promote growth and prosperity throughout Sweden. Its particular area of responsibility is to contribute to financing innovations linked to research and development and has a budget of SEK 1.7 billion.
